Welcome to the new year and "SFI 3.0!"

The waiting is over. The new SFI 3.0, the biggest undertaking in SFI's 10-year history, is now here.

It is a new, state-of-the-art e-commerce site, with a broad and exciting range of products befitting SFI's global affiliate base of consumers and marketers. There are now products of interest to everyone at SFI! And at competitive pricing and cheaper shipping too.

TripleClicks.com, just launched on 5 January 2009, is an exciting new destination on the Web. TripleClicks features thousands of products, including collectables and items available nowhere else on the Internet. New products are added daily. TripleClicks also allows its members to simply and easily sell their own unwanted items for cash or trade.

And the good news is that SFI affiliates can promote and earn commissions on almost every product and service available at TripleClicks.

The other great improvement is that the overall SFI system is now dramatically simplified. For example, when you plug thousands of hot, new products into a compensation plan, the plan suddenly starts paying out much better (especially when it's been carefully tweaked to dovetail with the rest of the system changes that are implemented.

There's also no doubt that the new store and the way it's been integrated into the system is going to pay dividends in the form of higher upgrade rates and, quite likely, huge growth in retail sales. Exciting stuff!

Most traffic exchanges are free to join and they are great sites to advertize your affiliate programs' websites if you are on a shoe-string budget. Many successful Internet marketers use free traffic exchanges to build up profitable businesses. Their only investments are their TIME and COMMITMENT. To follow their paths, you need to be consistent and persistent and very passionate in your quest for success.

The concept is simple. In a traffic exchange site, you surf for credits by visiting other people's websites. In exchange for credits other people will visit your website(s).

However, there are two disadvantages of traffic exchanges:

• Surfing for credits takes up a lot of your time. You need to plan your surfing schedule so that it does not distract you away from other equally important tasks of running your online business. • The people who click on your ads are very often not interested in your product or service. They are there surfing for credits just like you. So your traffic is less targeted than with pay-per-click, paid classified ads or other services where you buy targetted traffic.

Nevertheless, traffic exchanges are a great way to get free advertising. You still get free traffic and if you're consistent and persistent you’re likely to get some conversions out of it.

There are thousands of traffic exchanges in the Internet but basically there are two types of programs.

1) Start Page program where you set your homepage in your browser to start with the traffic exchange program. This opens automatically to a member's website or a list of websites.

2) Click Exchange program where you go to the exchange program's website and login to your account to surf for credits.
You earn credits by remaining on a member's site for 0-30 seconds depending on the program. A built-in timer let you know when you have earned a credit. You then click to the next site to continue earning credits. If you click too fast you do not earned any credit. Free members usually start with a surf ratio of 3:1 while upgraded members get higher levels.

You can also purchase credits if you do not want to spend the time surfing to earn free credits. You can upgrade your account to a paid membership and enjoy extra free credits and other benefits. The best way to earn lots of free credits in these exchange programs is to refer others to the program and build a downline.

Here are 12 things you need to consider before you start on your traffic exchange programs.

1. Read The Terms and Conditions

Before you sign up, you must first read and understand the terms and conditions, the policy and the FAQs of the traffic exchanges of your choice. Some exchanges allow only one account for one user or for one home address. You do not want to break any rules or you will be booted out.

You cannot use any automated robots, scripts, emulators, auto-clickers, and various other tools to surf for credits and most programs have ways to catch those who break the rules. So be aware of fraud tests, skill-cards or question-and-answer tests etc. that may pop up now and then to catch the cheaters. You will be penalized if you fail the tests. Some exchanges will reward you with extra credits for passing the tests.

2. Join Several Traffic Exchange Programs

You may need to join several traffic exchanges programs to maximize and to spread your website(s) promotion over the Internet.

You may want to visit the site first and watch how the exchange works. Remember to watch for the same ad as your affiliate program and how often this ad is repeated. If the exchange is saturated with the same ad or similar ads from the same affiliate program then you will have to find another traffic exchange. This usually happens when the affiliate program you joined recommends a particular traffic exchange and all the other affiliates use the same exchange.

3. Invest Your Time Wisely

The number of exchanges you join will depend on the amount of time you have each day to surf for credits. Remember, you have to go back to each program every day to surf for free credits.

You will need to spend at least 30 minutes for each program which means you will have to set aside one hour for two programs. Remember also that some traffic exchanges may delete your account if you are inactive for a certain period. Sign up for the number of exchanges you are most comfortable with and make sure you do your part. You are investing your time to get free advertising.

4. Use Same Username and Password for Convenience
Most programs will need you to fill in a username and a password. So, choose a username and password that are unique and memorable to you. You can use the same username and password for all these programs. Doing so will save you the problem of trying to remember different usernames and passwords and make it easier for you to log-in to your programs.

5. Create New E-Mail Address
You may want to create a new e-mail address so that e-mails and newsletters from these exchange programs will not jammed up your present e-mail address that you have dedicated for your online business.

Some programs may send you an e-mail for confirmation and you will need to click onto the link provided to activate your account. Others may require you to earn a certain amount of credits before you can post your website(s).

6. Get Your Referral Links Correct

Your primary objective is to promote or advertize your own website(s) or affiliate programs referral links in these traffic exchanges and to get people to watch your ads. Your secondary objective is to build a downline in a particular traffic exchange program so as to get extra free credits.

You must always remember to post your URLs or referral links correctly. Test them out before you post them. The worst that can happen is that your website does not show when somebody clicks onto your link. Your entire advertizing campaign is down the drain.

The best way to earn lots of free credits in these exchange programs is to refer others to the program and build a downline.

To build your downline in these traffic exchange programs you must promote your traffic exchang referral links to other traffic exchanges. So, make absolutely certain which one is the referral URL and which one is the surfing URL. Always test your links. You don't want to refer people to sign up at the wrong place.
8. Use Splash Pages If Can

Use a splash page for your traffic exchanges because they load so much faster. Avoid using a lot of Flash. They are pretty but take a lot of time to load and before you know it, the time is up and the viewer clicks on to the next site.

9. Use of Text Ads and Banners

For most programs you just have to insert your websites' URLs. Some programs may need you to write a text ad and some may allow you to use banners. So get them all ready and tested before you use them on your traffic exchange sites.

10. Choose Your Targeted Audience

Some traffic exchange programs offer targeted traffic depending on which category you choose. Choose the category that best fits your target URL such as Business Opportunities, Business and Marketing, Work at Home, Affiliate Programs, MLM, Internet Marketing etc.

11. Organize Your Traffic Exchange Programs

You can bookmark your traffic exchange URLs or you may want to put all your traffic exchange links into one favorite folder in your computer so that you can remember to go through them one by one each time you surf for credits. You can also use a traffic referral builder pad where you have all your traffic exchange referral links on one builder pad website. One good example is

12. Manage Your Time

With so many traffic exchanges to visit each day, the best strategy is to organize your time. Make a "to-do" list. Prioritize your important sites and consolidate your surfing time. "I don't have any money!"

Believe it or not, I hear this from affiliates quite a lot. But before you write off your chances of seriously starting and operating a successful home business of your own, I want you to read the following:

As advertised, SFI comes through with it's promise—an Internet business that requires NO money up front! YOU choose the level of your commitment to SFI. YOU choose how far you want to take it. YOU choose the rate of your own home business progress.

OK, so you have little or no money with which to start your business. That's alright. We can work around that problem for now. One of the beautiful things about your SFI business is that you can substitute time for money!

Any business will take time to build, whether it be an Internet business like SFI or a brick-and-mortar business like "Joe's Diner."

And although it may be true that investing money into your business will get you where you want to be much faster, it is NOT necessary...so long as you understand this:

Although using free methods of advertising will take quite a bit of time, effort, and patience, you can most definately build your business without ANY out-of-pocket costs...simply stick to it and you will get results.

How can I make money with SFI without spending any money?

Although having some start-up funds to invest almost always helps when starting any new business, you can still earn commissions with SFI without spending any money. By advertising your SFI Gateway sites (which include the Veriuni Store and its hundreds of products), you can reach people who are not SFI affiliates. Your SFI Gateways are personalized with your own referral number and your name. To view your list of Gateways, click HERE.

How can I advertise my Gateways and the SFI Products without spending any money?

You can place pre-written SFI ads approved for you at free classified sites, click-thru sites, safelists, FFA sites, and banner exchanges. Also, don't forget to include short ads in your e-mail signature and on your business cards. In addition, there are also pay-to-read e-mail sites and many other free areas in which you can advertise both online and offline to gain sales.

Also, use variations on search terms to find lesser-known, but still valuable advertising sites.
